Diamond League 2023 Final: India's star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra is going to spread his magic on the field once again. Tokyo Olympics gold medalist and current world champion Neeraj is going to defend his title in the Diamond League finals. Neeraj Chopra's match will be played late today (September 16) in Eugene, United States. Neeraj had also won the Diamond League Finals in Zurich in September last year.
Jakub Vadlejch won the event with an effort of 84.24 metres, besting Chopra's beating throw of 83.30 metres. Chopra stated on the sidelines of the event that he has one more competition to compete in this season.
If Neeraj wins the title, he will become the third javelin thrower to defend the Diamond League trophy. Czech Republic's Vitezslav Vesely (2012 and 2013) and Jakub Wadlech (2016 and 2017) have achieved this feat. Wadlach is currently Chopra's nearest rival. Six players including Neeraj are participating in the Men's Javelin Throw event of the Diamond League Finals. The winner of the javelin throw event will receive a prize money of 30 thousand dollars (Rs 24.92 lakh).
